Spilling Over

By Jessey Dearing, Lauren Frohne, Elena Rue and Mike Ehrlich
July 2010

Venice, La., is facing extinction. The small fishing community, located just 50 miles away from the Deepwater Horizon disaster, is in jeopardy, as the BP oil spill has put the livelihood of the residents in danger. The people of Venice are now left with a difficult choice. Do they stay and risk their health for the sake of their history and culture? Or do they give up their jobs, their community and their heritage in an effort to flee the lasting effects of the oil spill?

Money interests are controlling the flow of accurate information and reporting. This has become widespread, with many different types of sources feeding the public information. This ranges from arguments that it was all a hoax and that the beaches are pristine in reality, to the dubious statements that the well has been capped and that the flow is manageable. Do the math on the level of pressure at the well head based on indications of made public. The Blog article by the Geologist Chris Landau you read was accurate. The actual force of the oil escaping is comparable to a rocket engine. The videos made public are bogus images to hide the enormity of the problem. The replacement of the BP head is similarly a sham to make the public feel all is being taken care of in an efficient manner. It's all a shell game to hide the immense threat that is almost sure to materialize in disastrous fashion.

BP Blown out well should not be pressure tested,. by Chris Landau (geologist)

NOTHING HAS CHANGED. THE WELL IS NOT ALIVE. IT HAS NOT HEALED ITSELF.

Mark Hafle, BP's senior drilling engineer testified to the MMS on May 28, 2010 that the well had lost integrity and that thousands of barrels of mud had been lost down this well during drilling. This meant that the formation integrity had blown out. Reports at the hearings in May also indicated that the LOW positive pressure tests on the day of the blowout on April 20, 2010 had passed but the negative pressure tests had failed, so the well was not properly sealed. This happened within a few hours of the blowout.

The cement-casing structure is compromised. The well had ballooned out and THE FORMATION HAD BLOWN OUT, long before the blowout occurred.

BP, do you not have a single geologist at your company that can tell you what that means?

It means you can not seal this well. Pressure testing will only blow the cement casing structure to pieces, if it is not already gone.

Whose brainless idea was it to drill the directional wells 5 feet away and parallel to the existing well to weaken the formation structure further, so more casing formation strength is lost? Could those pointless, worthless relief wells not have been drilled at least 150 meters (500 feet) away from the existing well and then come in at right angles to minimize formation destruction?

This is turning into the biggest boondoggle since 911.
Since when do you have a blue background in videos taken at 5K feet? Some shown have had them.
I have worked with air, steam, and hydraulic leaks up to the 4,500 PSI range. They were claiming wellhead pressures of up to 70-100K PSI. Now, they are claiming pressures of 6.5-7K PSI.
The video of the pressure gauges is interesting. Not for what the gauge itself reads, but for the fact that:
Crush depth for a modern nuclear submarine is somewhere around 1,200 ft. How do they keep the gauges from crushing in at 5,000 ft?
????.....?????...?
Water Pressure for Feet Head
NOTE: One PSI of water = 2.309 feet of water at 62 degrees F.
For any PSI not listed, multiply the PSI by 2.309 to get the feet of water.
Therefore: A well head pressure at 5,000 ft. would have to overcome a head pressure of:
((5,000/2.309)=2165 PSI) to flow out at all. If the wellhead pressure is 100K, it would be spewing at a pressure differential of 97,835 psi. From personal observations, I can tell you that 600 PSI, it'll cut you in half. Hydraulic fluid at 3,000 PSI vaporizes when a line bursts. Now, can you correlate those facts with the images being shown on MSM of a lazy burbling fountain of oil lazily coming out of a 14" diameter pipe, when the pressure indications would indicate something in the nature of a Saturn rocket booster engine?]

Solution

Let the well flow as fast as you can. As long as no oil and gas is coming through the sea floor. If it is; you have to drill 8 relief wells around this well spaced 1500 feet apart and drilled straight down to relieve the formation pressure.

I know it is your intention to develop this well to pay for the Gulf of Mexico catastrophe. So develop it. Make sure the sea floor is not leaking oil and gas and produce the well. That was the original intention anyway.

Call for independent robot surveys for 1 year to monitor the sea floor around this well for oil and gas leaks, during well production.

My advice has not changed.

I stand by it.

About Chris Landau

I was born in South Africa in 1958. I came to the USA with my wife and three daughters in 2003. We became US citizens in 2009 and 2010. My wife Susan is a Special Education English Teacher. She also has a bachelor's degree in Micro anatomy and biochemistry. I have two daughters at university and one at school. I am very lucky to be surrounded by such talented women. They all love creative writing, poetry and cats.

I am a vegetarian and enjoy growing trees, vegetables and plants from seed.

My interests lie in astronomy, meteorology, geology and biology.

In astronomy I am interested in dimensions, the speed of electromagnetic radiation in different density conditions, redshift, magnetism associated with rings of planets and stars, black holes and contracting galaxies and the expansion and contraction of the universe.

In meteorology, my interests lie in long-range hourly weather timing predictions through tidal forces for both convectional and cyclonic rainfall.

In geology, my interests are in the inorganic origin of oil, gas and coal, under reducing conditions, through hydrogen sulfide and water acting on carbon dioxide and calcareous formations. My chemical and thermodynamic equations to prove how this occurred have been published.

As a geologist, I delivered two peer reviewed presentations to prove the theory, one to the Association of Engineering and Environmental Geologists in 2008 (AEG). See http://www.aegweb.org/files/public/abstracts.pdf page 17.

The other was to The American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) in October 2009. See http://www.aipg.org/Meetings/2009%20Annual%20Meeting/2009proceedings.pdf page 94.

These publications include methods of carbon capture that help generate new energy and make carbon dioxide a reusable resource.

My other interests are in large-scale earthquake fault lines and the interaction between continental drift and past big meteorite impacts and the unrecognized planetary impact sites.

I enjoy growing my own vegetable and fruit crops and hope to be self-sufficient one day.
I hope that the world will one day all be vegetarians. I believe we can only truly respect our selves and the other animals if we do not see them as a food source. No human being likes the thought of being eaten by animals. Let us all stop raising domestic animals for food.

I would like to see the oil, gas and coal being recycled daily, so no carbon dioxide or other pollutants are released into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide can be reduced back to methane under reducing conditions.
Solar power should be stepped up in a huge way to create clean renewable energy for the world. Desalination of seawater by solar power is the long-term solution to our water needs and our food production. Education to limit global population growth is vital to have sustainable resources for the world and its animals. I hope one day to see the end of war as a profitable business.

I hope to provide solutions in a practical and academic fashion. I look forward to mutually beneficial relationships that exploit neither party.
